1. Who we are
Douglas Ferris, trading as StayDingle, arranges holiday-home stays in Dingle, County Kerry, Ireland. This notice explains how personal information is used when you browse our website, make an enquiry, book or stay with us.
The data controller is Douglas Ferris, Dingle, Co. Kerry, Ireland. For privacy questions or requests, email info@staydingle.ie. We will direct your request to the person responsible for your information.
2. Information we use
- Enquiries: your name, email address, chosen home, proposed dates, group numbers and the message you send. Dates and group numbers are optional on our enquiry form.
- Bookings and stays: contact details, reservation details, guest numbers, arrival arrangements, payment status and correspondence needed to organise your stay.
- Payments: Lodgify and Stripe handle the online payment process. Booking and payment records may include transaction references, payment status and limited payment-method details. Do not send full card details by email or through our enquiry form.
- Website use: technical information such as IP address, browser information, request logs and, where enabled, analytics identifiers and page activity. Our cookie notice explains the relevant technologies.
Information usually comes from you, the person arranging a group booking, or the booking/payment service used for your reservation. If you share information about another guest, please let them know about this notice. Avoid including medical details or other sensitive information in a general enquiry; contact us first if you need to discuss an access requirement.
3. Why we use it
- Responding to a proposed stay and managing a reservation: to take steps you request before a contract and to perform the booking contract.
- General enquiries and service administration: our legitimate interests in communicating with guests and running the accommodation service.
- Accounting and required records: compliance with legal obligations.
- Security, fraud prevention and disputes: our legitimate interests in protecting guests, our services and property, and establishing or defending legal claims, balanced against your rights.
- Optional analytics or marketing: consent where required. Sending an enquiry is not consent to receive promotional emails.
We need enough contact and reservation information to answer your enquiry or fulfil your booking. Without it, we may be unable to provide the requested service. You can browse the main website without sending us an enquiry.
4. Services and recipients
Relevant information is shared with the people and services needed to answer you and deliver your stay:
- Webflow hosts the website and processes website enquiries.
- Lodgify supports availability, reservations and guest booking administration.
- Stripe processes payments and carries out payment-security and fraud-prevention checks.
- Google services support email, website analytics where enabled, and reCAPTCHA protection of the enquiry form.
- Relevant hosting or property-management personnel, professional advisers and authorities, where needed for your stay, a legal obligation or a dispute.
Providers may act on our instructions for some activities and as independent controllers for their own legal or security purposes. Their privacy notices explain those activities. If you contact us through WhatsApp or a booking platform such as Airbnb, that service also processes your information under its own notice.
5. How long information is kept
Enquiry correspondence is kept while it is needed to resolve your question and related follow-up. Where an enquiry becomes a booking, relevant correspondence becomes part of the reservation record.
Reservation records are kept for the stay, subsequent service issues and applicable accounting or legal requirements. Irish tax records generally need to be kept for six years. This does not mean every enquiry or every item of guest information must be kept for six years.
Information relevant to an unresolved complaint, payment dispute or legal claim may need to be kept longer. Retention depends on the purpose, the record type and the applicable legal requirement; records should be deleted or anonymised when no longer needed.
6. Security and international processing
We use access controls and appropriate safeguards to protect guest information. Online systems cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use the secure payment process rather than sending card details in a message.
Some technology providers operate internationally and may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where GDPR transfer rules apply, an applicable adequacy decision or appropriate safeguards, such as European Commission standard contractual clauses, are needed. You can contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to your data; the provider notices above also describe their international processing.
7. Your choices and rights
Depending on the circumstances, you can request access to your data, correction, erasure, restriction of processing or a portable copy. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
Email info@staydingle.ie and explain your request. We may need proportionate information to verify your identity. Requests are generally answered within one month; if an extension is permitted and needed, we will explain why. Some records may need to be retained to meet legal obligations or deal with legal claims.
You can complain to Ireland’s Data Protection Commission or another relevant supervisory authority. You do not have to contact us first.
8. Cookies and updates
See our cookie notice for website storage and third-party services. This notice may be updated when our services or practices change. The revision date will be shown on this page; using the website does not, by itself, give consent to optional processing.
